Job Summary
The Data Acquisition Manager is responsible for managing all raw data collection processes, including vote history, absentee, and early vote information as well as directly managing three team members. This position reports to the Director of Master Data Management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day workload for the Data Acquisition team
- Interview, train, and onboard new hires to the Data Acquisition team
- Create, maintain and develop ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) pipelines via Azure data Factory for streamlined product delivery and ingestion
- Utilize and leverage Azure Blob Storage for data warehouse projects and client integrations
- Develop Data Acquisition team members through continuous feedback, training, and conducting performance reviews
- Ensure team priorities are properly aligned with department and company goals
- Work with leadership to establish the annual build schedule to set framework for collections processes
- Communicate data collection timelines to any internal or client stakeholders
- Determine file collection frequency and timelines
- Establish relationships with Secretary of State offices nationwide for collection requests
- Collaborate and synchronize with primary client on their data collection efforts
- Assist team with collecting and processing voter file, absentee & early vote data nationwide
- Create absentee and early vote data reports for leadership and clients
- Stay informed on statuses of data collection requests, both electronic and mail
- Develop and refine stored procedures for absentee data processing optimization
- Establish thorough knowledge of state election timelines, including voter registration, absentee, and ballot return deadlines
- Collaborate with other data teams to establish priorities and timelines
- Ensure complete accuracy on any Data Acquisition paperwork and forms
- Create election information resources for internal and external parties
Skills
- Excellent attention to detail, prioritization, and project management skills involving multiple internal and external parties
- Strong organizational skills to handle many competing and urgent deadlines
- Professional communication skills to establish relationships with vendors and clients
- Reliability to accomplish work efficiently, thoroughly, and accurately
- Strong knowledge in SQL, Excel, and Microsoft Azure products
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products
- Understand state election laws and deadlines to ensure data collection is timely
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in political or data related field
- 3 years of work experience in political data or campaigns
- 3 years of experience with SQL and Excel
- 2 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure products (Data Factories, Logic Apps, etc.)
- Python and Databricks experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with raw data, preferred
- Ability to work early, late, or weekend hours during peak election seasons, as needed
