QUOTING AND COSTING SPECIALIST

ONSITE - MADISON, NC

Full-time position

Some travel between manufacturing locations possible

JOB HIGHLIGHTS

Client is a long-standing member of the community and growing. It has a high volume of SKU's and produces many custom jobs. All the variables impact labor, material, and handling costs.

(variances by profile, colors/ finishes, stains/ paints, wood species, etc.)

  • Key Skills needed: Attention to detail, personal drive, and strong excel skills.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience quoting and/or product material costing.
  • All costing professionals with high attention to detail and fast learning are welcome to apply.
  • Focus will be on experience, ability to work with manufacturing team, sense of urgency, and someone who applies what they learn.

Industry related: Costing, Quoting, Bill of material, routing, process knowledge, in manufacturing.

Preferred: "board feet", "linear feet", wood finishing types (wood, stain, paint, distressing, etc.), wood flooring, case goods/ furniture, moldings

Detailed Job Description

Our team is collaborative, and we need your excellent analytical skills and your ability to combine data from various sources to help us refine and calculate quotes, maintain customer product files, and calculate profit margins accurately.

Our team goal is to collaborate well to minimize our external pricing and maximize internal profits to grow our business and get the best results possible for our company. We would love your help in this process!

Main tasks

  • Development of quotes for new and existing customers based on their requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales and production teams to gather necessary information for quoting.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust quotes and costs accordingly.
  • Ensure all quotes are ready to be reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate cost model.
  • Assist in maintaining customer pricing files.
  • Monitor changes in products or processes to calculate effects on overall cost.
  • Assist in updating operating system with new products and processes as they are introduced.
  • Assist in development of bill of materials, routings, etc.
  • Assist in updating the operating system with changes in processes and products as they occur. BOM, routings, etc.
  • Analyze changes in Bill of Material (BOM), product design, raw materials, and manufacturing processes, to determine effects on cost, production scheduling, inventory values, and variances.
  • Perform cost variance analysis to prepare reports for manufacturing and accounting.
  • Assist with physical inventories.

Experience/Skills

  • Proven experience in quoting and costing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Cost systems background.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills - Email, Browsers, Spreadsheets, Cloud storage, etc.
  • Strong excel skills (including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables).
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Great Plains is a plus

Working Environment

  • Typical indoor office/manufacturing environment.
  • When in manufacturing environment, the noise level is usually moderated to high and hearing protection may be required on the production floor and the employee is required to wear PPE. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Occasional weekend work required.
