What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Center Technician position at dataNet IT?
Our client, a California based technology company specializing in networking hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products is seeking a Data Center Technician who meets the below requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Engineers in racking, managing, deploying, imaging, and troubleshooting servers and other network devices.Maintain asset inventory such as all ports, hubs, switches, routers etc., and keeping track of what is connected to what, location, usage rate etc., device serial numbers, product numbers, model numbers, its locations, its associated MAC Addresses, IP addresses, Quantity availability... etc.
- Performs installation of network and systems equipment (rack, stack and cabling).
- Removing equipment when decommissioned
- Monitor facilities for power, cooling and other capacity needs
- Escalate events and tickets appropriately following defined procedures.
- Follow procedural and technical documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Perform shipping and receiving tasks including RMA activities.
- Installed, and maintained lab structured-cabling
- Performed network devices cross-connection (cabled machines to the network switches).
- Decommission servers and other network devices as required.
- Support Engineers, Administrators, and other technicians in troubleshooting hardware, and network connectivity issues.
Skills required:
- Data Center HVAC, CRAC, cooling technologies
- Data Center power, UPS, generator operations, etc
- Data Center fire suppression systems(FM200, HFC125, etc)
- General knowledge of data center design and construction
- LAN/WAN
- Structured Cabling
- Ethernet and Fiber Cabling
- CCENT/ CCNA
