This is not a permanent appointment. A provisional appointee must participate and be successful in a Civil Service examination for this classification and be selected through an open competitive process in order to be considered for permanent appointment. Provisional appointments may not exceed three (3) years.

  • Bolster equitable leadership development opportunities for Black, Latino and Asian / Pacific Islander staff throughout the Department, and pursue just transitions for staff whose positions may end with the closure of Juvenile Hall.
  • Under general direction, the 1092 IT Operations Support Administrator II at the Juvenile Probation Department will monitor the system and network to obtain maximum system performance and uptime for the department; perform system and application updates, install and configure software application according to the department operational standards and procedures; perform data entry and verify data integrity on the Juvenile Justice Information System; perform user support and help desk functions related to all applications, systems and network issues; configuring and installing the latest version of computer operating system and applications, perform PC imaging for new workstation deployment; assisting in special IT projects as a supporting role, including system testing, implementation and deployment; conducting user training on Juvenile Justice Information System and other office applications, as needed; troubleshooting computer problems; provide technical support and assistance to users in problem determination / resolution with peripheral equipment; produce moderately complex reports; document hardware problems; order inventory supplies; and perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Provide support to Juvenile Probation Commission Meeting
  • Audio / video setup and in-meeting support

  • Facilitate in-meeting online public comment
  • Requires traveling offsite and working off hours
  • User / desktop Support
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of devices, computer / network equipment
  • Virtual meeting audio / video setup and support
  • User Training
  • Monitoring the system and network
  • Analyzing, detecting, identifying and correcting complex systems, software, or hardware deficiencies.
  • Planning, implementing, maintaining and coordinating upgrades / updates / fixes for core operating systems and their related components, without negative impact to the overall availability and reliability of the enterprise systems / networks
  • Mobile devices support and management
  • Support computer peripherals such as monitors, printers, and copy machines
  • IT onboarding and offboarding of staff
  • Administering Active Directory Group Policy
  • Server administration - replication, failover, and offsite backup
  • Inventory of IT equipment / software
  • Other IT tasks as needed
  • How to qualify

    Education : Requires an Associate's Degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits / units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits / units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits / units in computer science or a closely-related field].

    Experience : One (1) year of experience performing analysis, installation and technical support in a network environment.

    Education Substitution : Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

    Completion of a one (1) year State (DAS) Information Technology apprenticeship program equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco's 1090 IT Operations Support Training Program may substitute for the required education.
