Under supervision, the 3630 Librarian I performs beginning level professional librarian work. Responsibilities include :
- Explaining and carrying out assigned duties within established methods and procedures.
- Making regular contacts with the public, outside organizations, and library personnel.
- Maintaining awareness of current reading trends and literature.
The essential functions of this class include but are not limited to :
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of : Modern library methods, procedures, and the role of a public library in the community.
Ability and Skill to : Work effectively with library patrons; evaluate library materials; educate patrons in using library facilities.
How to qualify
Minimum Qualification :
Education : Possession of a Master’s Degree in library and information studies from an ALA-accredited program.
Note : Qualifying education must be verified by a legible copy of diploma or transcripts.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS :
Selection Procedures : Candidates must complete all steps in the selection process, including a computer-based multiple-choice examination.
