The purpose of this position is to provide essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and leadership as described below. This role oversees a specific project area and acts as a representative of the engineering discipline, ensuring technical accuracy throughout project execution in all phases. This is a lead position responsible for performing engineering assignments of advanced complexity.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a Supervising Lead under the general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, providing guidance and supervision to engineers and designers.
Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to complex problems in accordance with project requirements.
Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
Perform and verify engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment, and systems; solve advanced technical problems.
Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
Ensure compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures.
Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports, including effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
Establish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts.
Support equipment and material procurement and subcontracting activities, including scope of work, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submittal reviews.
Provide construction administration support, including responding to RFIs and field changes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical (Power) Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of work-related experience.
Working knowledge of applicable federal (e.g., Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards.
Effective communication skills with various audiences, including project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Advanced knowledge of discipline codes, standards, and technical practices.
Ability to perform work in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
Proficiency in using intermediate-level software tools such as word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Experience in providing EPC services for large industrial projects.
Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools in a multidisciplinary environment.
Discipline-Specific Job Requirements
Interpret and apply codes, standards, and customer design requirements for preparing electrical design / construction documents.
Prepare and modify electrical design drawings (e.g., single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, raceways, lighting, and grounding).
Perform complex system studies (e.g., short circuit, load flow, stability, harmonics, relay coordination, and ground grid analysis).
Develop area classifications, electrical design documents, and perform advanced electrical calculations (e.g., short circuit, voltage drop, cable de-rating, and tension).
Prepare motor schematics and wiring diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience designing systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under ASME NQA-1 requirements.
Advanced knowledge of commercial material availability and costs.
Demonstrated experience managing and leading large projects.
Proficiency with project setup, control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.
Practical field experience.
EPC project experience in the following industries :
U.S. Department of Energy or other Federal Government Agencies.
Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program.
Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology.
Advanced knowledge of :
Electrical codes and standards.
Electrical power systems and related software (e.g., SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP)).
