Job Title: Counselor I
Work Hours: 35 hours per week
Lunch Break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (Unpaid)
Work Location: Sussex County One-Stop Center, Newton, NJ 07860
Candidates should reside close to our office location or within Morris and Sussex Counties.
Training & Interview Details:
Initial interviews and training (if selected) will be conducted at:
1 Medical Drive, Morris Plains, NJ
The role will later transition to the Sussex location, at a time determined by our agency.
Job Overview
The Counselor I will provide direct client service support to WFNJ participants, ensuring compliance with WFNJ rules and regulations. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting client intakes and evaluating work readiness.
- Developing and reviewing Individual Responsibility Plans (IRP) and other necessary documents with clients.
- Ensuring clients meet WFNJ work requirements through appropriate activity mix and support services.
- Providing career and employment counseling.
- Entering and maintaining accurate client data in AOSOS.
- Recording progress through counselor notes and maintaining confidential client files.
- Processing timesheets and job search logs.
- Monitoring and following up on client participation in work activities.
- Coordinating with One-Stop Career Center staff, Social Services, and other community agencies.
- Recommending actions for non-compliant clients.
- Attending Fair Hearings, as needed.
- Representing Employment and Training Services in meetings and events.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in social or human services.
- Proficiency in PC office software and general technology use.
- Familiarity with WFNJ programs, One-Stop Career Center systems, and services.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $21.99 - $22.00 per hour
