This position supports the State of Iowa’s Department of Management (DOM), Security Operations Center (SOC). The purpose of this role is to provide tier two triage for information technology issues and information security incidents. As a tier two information security incident handler, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing information security incidents throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary incident owner for the Security Operations Center.
- Lead efforts in incident handling processes, including:
- Incident discovery, analysis, and verification
- Incident tracking, containment, and recovery
- Incident response coordination, escalation, and notification
- Coordinate with other teams to remediate detected incidents.
- Communicate intelligence and security updates to key personnel.
Required Experience (5 Years)
- Certifications: Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), CompTIA Security (Security CE), CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA ), or equivalent security certifications.
- Security Technologies & Strategies: Strong understanding of security technologies, including but not limited to:
- Firewalls
- Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
- Policy management
- Security best practices
- Logging/monitoring
- Antivirus solutions
- Vulnerability assessments
- Patch management
- Incident response
- Threat Intelligence & Attack Mitigation:
- Solid knowledge of common and emerging attack vectors, penetration methods, and countermeasures.
- Incident Management & Conflict Resolution:
- Knowledge of conflict resolution and incident escalation.
- Ability to work effectively with customers to balance security needs with business challenges.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues requiring sophisticated analytical thought.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and interruptions professionally.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Proven ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
