Our client is Rochester Institute of Technology. This position will assist the Facilities Management Services. This is a 6 month maximum contract role with opportunity to become hired full time, with pay starting at $18.50/hour.
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Area Mechanic, respond to service calls and assist with skilled trade maintenance for all service calls from residents within designated housing area(s). Repairs may include, but are not limited to, electrical, HVAC, hot water, clogged pipes, leaking faucets, etc.
Essential Tasks:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide skilled trades maintenance in the areas of plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, drywall and finishing, masonry, door and window repair/replacement as assigned.
- Follow through to completion ongoing preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by Supervisor
- Monitor work scheduled by outside contractors (i.e., painters, cleaners, etc.) to ensure quality standards established have been achieved
- Provide access/escort to assigned areas for contract work while units are occupied as needed
- Complete inspections as residents move out and compile work assessments to restore units to an 'out & clean' status
- Participate in rotational schedule to respond to service calls received after business hours
Qualifications/Special Skills Required:
- Experience with use of hand tools and power tools
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
- Valid driver's license is preferred
