COMPANY OVERVIEW
Daughters of Charity Ministries in Emmitsburg, Maryland is seeking a part-time (16 hours per week) Life Enrichment Assistant.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Life Enrichment Assistant enhances the Sisters' experience by providing personalized options that help each Sister achieve the fullest life possible, no matter their age or stage of life. These team members are a crucial link in ensuring that our Sisters have programming which supports, validates, and enhances their quality of life. The Life Enrichment Assistant plans, implements, and evaluates recreational programs for the Sisters. This position will assist in establishing and maintaining a life enrichment culture that moves away from "calendar" driven programming to an enriching person-centered experience which helps each of our Sisters in achieving their life journey. The Life Enrichment Assistant assists and implements the monthly social calendar, events, outings, and programs. They will review these programs and level of participation for effectiveness and makes changes appropriately.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Develops, implements, and oversees group and one-on-one social programs for the Sisters. Ensures that each are prepared and promoted well in advance. Ensures successful execution of all events. Continually monitors and evaluates the life enrichment programs and calendar and enhances as necessary.
Transports and/or assists Sisters on outings and trips. Ensures safe transport of Sisters at all times.
Completes necessary assessments, forms, and documentation.
Notes Sister's program participation and motivates, as necessary.
Gathers and disseminates information about community services and programs.
Communicates and coordinates with necessary team members about programs, arrangements for supplies for programs, resident participation, resident observations, and all related arrangements.
Ability to demonstrate, explain how to use, and work an iPad and DVD players for the Sisters. Basic understanding of Microsoft programs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating presentations on various topics the Sisters are interested in learning about.
Other related duties that facilitate a positive life enrichment of the Sisters as necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. Physical Demands of the Position
The ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, walk, reach, and grasp in order to perform a variety of functions including directing exercise classes.
The ability to operate office equipment such as a computer, telephone, calculator, and copier.
The ability to operate audio visual equipment such as camera, video camera, video cassette recorder, stereo, and public address system.

Ability to set priorities, plan, organize and coordinate programs for the Sisters.
Possesses short- and long-term memory.
Ability to accumulate, documents, and follow-up based on Sisters' choices and needs.

Ability to assess a situation and present a viable solution.
3. Sensory Requirements of the Position
Ability to see and hear in order to assist with the needs of the Sisters.
Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with Sisters, family members, volunteers, and staff.
4. Technical/Motor Skill Requirements of the Position
Ability to speak and write in a clear and concise manner in order to communicate effectively.
Ability to manipulate small office equipment.
Ability to manipulate and instruct on audiovisual equipment.
Ability to prepare and submit written reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Degree or GED preferred.
Employment working with the elderly population for at least one year.
Two or more years of experience as an activity assistant associated within senior living or related areas.
All job duties are expected to be completed in accordance with the Mission and Values of the Daughters of Charity.
