The Daughters of Charity is located in Albany, NY. It is the retirement home for the Sisters of the Daughters of Charity providing independent and assisted living and memory care in a person respected care environment. We are in a wonderful, parklike setting. Vehicle parking is on site. We are currently looking for an individual to perform dietary assistant tasks and supervise staff. This individual must have supervisory experience.
The individual in this position will ensure that all dining service needs for our Sister residents are met including any special diets etc. This position will ensure that scheduled staff are on the job, on time and performing their prescribed jobs. Some responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Supervision of the Dietary Assistants, including maintaining proper procedures in accordance with Daughters of Charity policies. Has a sound knowledge of the Dietary Assistant job description and ensures that staff carries out all aspects of that position.
Will assist the Dietary Director in employee evaluations by providing input. Will defer to the Dietary Director in matters of discipline
Will supervise staff in a pro-active and constructive manner to meet the goals of the department.
Ensures that meal tickets are accurate, in order and ready for the next meal. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to maintain dining services that are efficient and effective.
This position will be responsible to have sufficient staff and if necessary will make calls to bring additional staff in. The supervisor will fill in and assist wherever needed ensuring total menu production, set up, delivery, retrieval and that all shift duties are fulfilled to a high standard.
All dining rooms must be maintained in a prescribed manner including all aspects of sanitation, restocking and any other requests.
May need to support special functions. Must be flexible in shift needs. Primary shift is 11 am -7 : 30 pm and every other weekend.
Will ensure that all equipment (dishwashing machines, refrigerators and freezers) are in working order and that temperature have been logged. All malfunctions should be reported to the Dietary Director.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to work at least 8 hours of continuous work requiring physical demands including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 100 pounds.
Moderate physical activity performing the strenuous daily activities of a primarily product / technical nature. Must have the dexterity sufficient to reach / handle items.
Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts; cooking fumes and cleaning chemicals; sharp objects; moderate noise.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
