Job Description
Salary : $20.64 / hour
This position is responsible for supervising individuals placed on probation and / or parole supervision under the jurisdiction of the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas, ensuring compliance with the terms of supervision, and providing support and rehabilitation resources to help offenders reintegrate into society. This person in this position consults with offenders' friends, families, and associates; employers; law enforcement and social service agencies; and other county probation professionals, pursuant to composition and fulfillment of an offender's respective rehabilitation plan. Work conducted by this individual may include monitoring offenders through telephone, electronic, and in-person contact. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and written skills, an understanding of criminal justice processes, and a commitment to public safety and offender rehabilitation.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement or related field. Experience in a related field and / or internship.
Other Requirements :
The individual in this position must check their emails and phone messages daily and respond to any emails / messages within a minimum of 24 business hours. He / she must also participate in primary and secondary court duty rotation.
A valid driver's license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check and favorable child abuse and FBI clearances are required (act 33 / 34 clearnances are required).
Working during non-traditional hours may at times be required.
Other Requirements :
Probation Officers carry a firearm when they perform their duties, and they must pass their firearm certification each year.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL CONDITIONS
1. Must be able to complete Phase I (classroom) Safety Training.
2. Must be able to complete Phase II (physical) Control Tactics Training.
3. Must be able to complete and maintain Act 158 Firearms Certification, stress fire, night shoot and continuing education training.
