We are seeking a Assistant Service Manager to join our team at Dave Syverson Truck Centers. In this role, you will oversee our service department, ensuring top-tier maintenance and customer satisfaction. This position is vital to maintaining our reputation for excellence in the trucking industry.
Responsibilities
- Customer Interaction & Support: Ensure all customer inquiries—whether by phone, in person, or online—are handled professionally and efficiently, always striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Appointment Scheduling: Assist in coordinating and managing service appointments to optimize workflow and ensure timely repairs.
- Work Order Management: Oversee the creation and accuracy of work orders, ensuring all customer concerns, diagnostics, and repair details are properly documented.
- Customer Updates & Communication: Conduct follow-up calls to update customers on repair progress, answer questions, and explain any necessary services.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with service advisors, technicians, and management to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, and timely issue resolution.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in monitoring repair progress, ensuring high-quality service and addressing any delays or additional repair needs promptly.
- Parts & Inventory Coordination: Communicate with the parts department to secure necessary parts for repairs and ensure efficient service flow.
- Warranty & Compliance: Assist in managing warranty claims, ensuring accurate part tagging and proper documentation to meet manufacturer and dealership policies.
- Repair Authorization & Estimates: Provide customers with accurate quotes for parts and labor, and authorize necessary maintenance services as needed.
- Invoice Processing & Work Order Closure: Review, process, and finalize repair invoices, ensuring accuracy before closing work orders.
- Service Area Maintenance: Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional service reception and workstation area.
- Technical & Customer Support: Utilize technical knowledge and resources to assist customers and team members in diagnosing and resolving service-related concerns.
- Operational Adaptability: Step in as needed to handle various service department tasks, including assisting with customer concerns, handling emergencies, and adapting to changes in workflow or personnel.
Compensation will be based on experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a management role within the automotive or trucking industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and staff alike.
- Familiarity with dealership operations is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
