The TLCS Math Systems Coach works directly with secondary math teachers to enhance math instruction and improve student outcomes. This role focuses on providing coaching and professional development to teachers, utilizing data to inform instructional practices, and offering targeted interventions strategies for students who need additional support. The coach will collaborate closely with secondary math teachers, TLCS Coaches, Innovators, and the district math specialist to ensure a cohesive, effective approach to math teaching and learning across the district.
MTSS Structures:
• Design and support broad scale MTSS framework for implementation at buildings and identify ongoing systems and procedures to enhance MTSS math practices.
• Collaborate with secondary math teachers to refine instructional practices, ensuring high-quality, engaging, and effective math lessons that support the diverse needs of students and align with district and state math standards.
• Provide personalized coaching to teachers, focusing on best practices for math instruction, differentiation, and student engagement strategies.
Data-Driven Decision Making
• Support teachers in analyzing math data to identify student strengths and areas for improvement, and collaborate to design appropriate interventions.
• Work with teachers to regularly monitor student progress in math and adjust instruction and interventions based on data-driven insights.
• Partner with the district math curriculum specialist and TLCS Coaches and Innovators to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to data analysis and instructional support across the district.
Professional Development for Teachers
• Design and facilitate professional development in all aspects related to Math MTSS structures and systems, including problem-solving methodology, system change, universal screening, progress monitoring, decision making, intervention methods at all tiers at the secondary level.
• Support Collaborative Teacher Teams and training sessions on the implementation of the MTSS framework in math, including strategies for universal screening, progress monitoring, and tiered interventions.
• Offer ongoing support and coaching after professional development sessions to help teachers implement and refine the strategies learned.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning by providing teachers with resources, collaborative opportunities, and targeted support for professional growth.
Collaboration with Leadership Roles
• Work closely with building administrators, TLCS Coaches, and Innovators to ensure alignment between math instruction and broader school improvement goals.
• Collaborate with TLCS Coaches and Innovators to support teachers in implementing district initiatives, adjusting strategies, and meeting individual student needs.
• Share insights and strategies with TLCS Coaches and Innovators to enhance coaching practices and strengthen the overall support system for teachers across the district.
• Coordinate with TLCS Coaches and Innovators to organize district-wide professional development efforts and ensure consistency in the delivery of math instruction.
Collaboration with District Math Curriculum Specialist
• Partner with the district math curriculum specialist to align instructional strategies, interventions, assessments, and curriculum across secondary math classrooms.
• Collaborate on the development and implementation of professional development opportunities for teachers, ensuring a unified approach to math instruction district-wide.
• Provide feedback to the district math curriculum specialist on the effectiveness of district math initiatives, sharing successes and challenges from the classroom level.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
- Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
- Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
- Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
- Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of teaching experience
- Must have a current Iowa Teaching License
- Must hold the following teaching endorsement: 5-12 Mathematics - 143
- Strong knowledge of data analysis, evidence-based interventions, and educational best practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Technological proficiency
- Strong interpersonal and proven track record with building rapport with diverse faculty and staff.
- Additional 8 days with $5,000 stipend
Special Qualification Desired:

- Strong knowledge of secondary math curriculum and instructional strategies, with a focus on improving student achievement.
- Proven experience leading, coaching or supporting secondary math teachers in instructional practices, differentiation, and intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with data analysis and the use of data to inform math instruction and interventions.
- Experience designing and facilitating professional development for teachers, particularly in the area of math instruction.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside TLCS Coaches, Innovators, district specialists, and classroom teachers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
