DCSD is seeking a dedicated and experienced MTSS Coaches to join our team and facilitate implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework. The MTSS Coach will play a crucial role in supporting our schools in creating a data-driven and responsive system to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students.

Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

Essential Functions to include programming and services:

MTSS Framework
•    Guide the district teams in the development and implementation of MTSS framework at school sites 
•    Establish connections for MTSS framework and philosophy to other district initiatives
•     Identify expectations for the use of MTSS for both academics and behavioral concerns 
•    Knowledge of the implementation and application of MTSS model at the school site level 
•    Ability to design and support broad scale MTSS framework for adoption at site levels 
•    Identifies ongoing system and policy barriers to MTSS and makes recommendations for systems and policy alignment. 

Data Analysis and Decision Making 
•    Analyze school-wide and student-level data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
•    Ability to use data for decision-making regarding student needs. Identify and implement effective data management system for MTSS, including Early Warning System data 
•    Collaborate with school teams to make informed decisions based on data to enhance instruction and intervention strategies.

Interventions and Progress Monitoring
•    Establish a progress monitoring process and data collection procedures, including cut points 
•    Meet with Student Intervention Teams at each site to provide support for intervention implementation 
•    Assist sites in analyzing student needs and linking student needs to appropriate interventions for struggling students 
•    Ensure the development, identification, and establishment of interventions at Tier II and III at each school site 
•    Ability to lead large and small groups through change efforts 
•    Revise intervention monitoring tools, procedures, and processes for intervention referrals. 
•    Develops protocols for intervention referral processes. 

Professional Development 
•    Ability to conduct professional development in all aspects related to MTSS, including philosophy, problem-solving methodology, system change, universal screening, progress monitoring, decision making, intervention methods at all tiers for both academic and behavioral needs 
•    Works collaboratively with multiple leadership teams in the District to support unique needs for implementation. 
•    Supports and expands the abilities of the general education articulation process (incoming 9th graders) for students with intervention needs.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties. 
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Required Minimum Qualifications:  
  • 3 years of teaching experience
  • Must have a current Iowa Teaching License
  • Experience with MTSS implementation in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis, evidence-based interventions, and educational best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Technological proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal and proven track record with building rapport with diverse faculty and staff. 
  • Additional 8 days with $5,000 stipend
 Special Qualification Desired:

  • Proven expertise in taking the initiative to accomplish projects
  • Strong analytical skills with data
  • Demonstrated record of effective management and communication strategies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
