Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
 
ENDORSEMENT REQUIRED: [144] OR [145]
  • Responsible for the Music instruction for all students in grades 6-8 assigned to your classes.
  • Provide an enjoyable and fun experience in Music while following the district’s prescribed curriculum.
  • Promote the Music program to parents and the community.
  • Must be able to teach multiple General Music classes, Choir classes and an Advisory section.
  • Share and effectively work as a member of a team, planning lessons together, monitoring progress and making modifications that meet the needs                 
  • of all students.
  • Support the content subject areas through the Music Curriculum.
  • Must communicate and work cooperatively with students, staff, and parents to maintain a positive climate in the school.
  • Must be skilled at teaching in a team atmosphere, including work on collaborative teacher teams.
  • Must be adept at building relationships and maintaining high academic and behavioral standards for all students.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches her/his full
  • potential.
  • Must be willing to communicate with all stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to make accommodations and to differentiate instruction based on students’ needs.
  • Must implement building wide PBIS, CHAMPS, and Character Strong practices in support of building and district goals.
  • Must be willing to support and implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for both academics and behavior.
  • Must be willing to integrate new technology-based strategies into the classroom.
  • Must attend and actively participate in all building and district professional development.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties. 
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
