Duties & Responsibilities: Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

Facilitate and Support Home School Assistance Program (HSAP):
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians in the Home School Assistance Program.
  • Guide parents/guardians in implementing district-approved curriculum and instructional materials for students K-12.
  • Provide advice and resources to help parents/guardians manage their children’s learning schedules, educational activities, and academic goals.
  • Help parents/guardians set realistic and effective goals for student progress, providing strategies for monitoring and supporting learning.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, resources, and goals.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to create individualized learning plans that meet the unique needs of each student and align with academic goals.
  • Provide ongoing support and check-ins to ensure that learning plans are being followed and are successful.
  • Advise on any necessary adjustments to ensure students are staying on track.
  • Offer workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one support to help parents/guardians develop their skills in facilitating their child's education, topics may include instructional strategies, assessment methods and differentiation techniques.
  • Help parents/guardians understand how to use educational tools and technology and stay informed on educational trends and research that may benefit their children.
  • Provide resources and guidance on how to address challenges that may arise in the homeschooling process, including behavioral issues, motivation, and academic struggles.
  • Provide guidance to parents on adjusting teaching methods or content based on assessment results to improve learning outcomes.
  • Monitor to ensure that homeschooling families meet district and state compliance requirements, assisting with documentation and reporting as needed.
  • Work closely with district administrators, counselors, and support staff to ensure that families have access to additional services (special education, counseling, etc.) when needed.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to share feedback, ideas, and strategies for improving the HSAP.
  • Attend district meetings and workshops to stay updated on district policies, educational innovations, and resources available to homeschooling families.
  • Organize events or meetups to build a sense of community among families in the Home School Assistance Program.
  • Encourage parents/guardians’ participation in online forums or social networks to exchange ideas, share resources, and support one another.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and approachable relationship with all parents/guardians to foster a collaborative, respectful atmosphere.
  • Perform administrative duties for HSAP including but not limited to, monthly newsletters, social media communications, purchases and materials, etc.
  • Valid Teaching License Required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in guiding and supporting parents.
  • Strong computer skills and technology
  • Knowledge of K-12 curriculum standards and homeschooling best practices.
  • Ability to provide personalized educational support and problem-solving strategies to parents.
  • Comfort with educational technology tools and online learning platforms.
  • Patience, adaptability, and empathy when working with diverse learners and families.
  • Has excellent attendance
  • Independent and collaborative work ethic: While the role is independent in nature, candidate will collaborate with a variety of educational stakeholders, including parents, other educators, and district leaders, to ensure the success of the program.
