WORK LOCATION: Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus
DEPARTMENT: Athletics-Administration
POSITION PAY RANGE: $12.00 - 12.50, Hourly
TARGET HIRING RANGE: Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity and available funding.

This position acts as a general assistant to the department, performing clerical office functions related to daily operations and will be responsible for duties related to game management. The Athletic Assistant will serve as the student team manager and will work closely with the assigned team providing an array of team related services. The position requires the employee to be self-motivated, be familiar with and competent within the athletic department and be responsible to work with minimum supervision. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities
- Film games, video recording, editing, and provide highlights for the team.
- Track and monitor team equipment distribution to players, will be responsible for all equipment and inventory.
- Set-up and breakdown for games.
- Generate team statistics reports for coaches.
- Coordinate travel including hotel, restaurant, game and practice sites.
- Responsible for team laundry.
- Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating files and record keeping systems.
- Generate reports, memorandums, correspondence, presentation materials, spreadsheets and graphics, and other materials using various software programs.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and faxes.
- Copy and collate documents.
- Assemble informational packets.
- Assists with special events and functions as needed.
- May be responsible for greeting visitors, as well as answering and routing incoming calls.
- Scheduling and confirming appointments.
- Handling of documents and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Conducts special projects, research and assignments as assigned.
- Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.

- Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and meeting the standards of academic progress.
- Experience in office setting preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
- Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Some travel between locations may be required (own transportation). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
