TITLE:
Assistant Principal I, II & III - Secondary
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide assistance to the principal in the operation of the total school program
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold the Postgraduate Professional Certificate with an endorsement as Administration & Supervision K-12
- Have at least three years of successful, full-time experience as a teacher, supervisor, or administrator, two years which must have been at the appropriate level
- Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents
REPORTS TO:
Principal
SUPERVISES:
Assist the principal in supervising professional and classified staff
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary administrator in the absence or disability of the principal
- Assist the principal with the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the total school instructional program
- Assume a leadership role in supporting the quality development and implementation of the school’s instructional program
- Assist the principal with the recruitment, orientation, training, and evaluation of instructional personnel
- Coordinate the assignments and assist with supervision of student teachers, substitute teachers, aides, and volunteers
- Supervise student conduct and extracurricular activities as assigned by the principal
- Assist in the development, improvement, and evaluation of courses of study and instructional activities
- Assist in the acquisition of supplies and supplementary materials for the instructional program
- Supervise the school’s safety, security, and environmental control programs
- Work with the community and provide leadership for special instructional programs
- Assume responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services
- Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and work with the visiting teacher for investigative follow-up actions
- Perform other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Involves limited physical tasks including lifting, and may involve operation of equipment such as computers, copiers, overhead projectors, etc.
- Involves frequent traveling to and from schools
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month contract

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
Salary : $69,789 - $112,616
