What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Inspector Intern position at David Evans and Associates, Inc.?
DEA's Portland, OR office is looking for a Construction Inspector Intern. The Intern's responsibilities will be diverse and will include providing on-site construction inspection and applicable documentation for transportation projects. This includes observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, as well as providing assistance and support for design projects including curb ramps.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Performing technical calculations and related work in the field, or office.
* Inspecting, observing and documenting a project to make sure it is constructed in accordance with contract documents.
* Maintaining accurate daily record of the work (labor, equipment, materials, and quantities).
* Communicating with the Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or other field engineering staff.
* Assisting in developing design projects for construction.
* Calculating quantities and producing sketches in excel, CADD, or by hand
* Assisting in assessment of existing curb ramps for future construction projects
Basic Qualifications:
* Must have completed at least one year of school toward a Bachelors or Associates degree in Engineering
* Be able to work outdoors, walk in uneven terrain, and be on your feet for extended periods of time
* Prior construction inspector experience is preferred
* Clean driving record
