What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Engineer position at David Evans and Associates?
DEA’s Inland Northwest Market is hiring a Transportation Engineer-in-Training to work in our Transportation Business Unit as part of our Roads and Highways team. Office locations for this position are Spokane, WA, Tri-Cities, WA, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Boise, ID or Pocatello, ID. As an engineer-in-training, the responsibilities will be diverse and will include but not be limited to the following:
Works with project teams on all aspects of projects, including project set-up, drafting, design, quality review and quality assurance, project coordination/organization, etc.
Prepares and designs improvement plans for a wide range of multi-modal transportation projects
Prepares and/or modifies construction documents, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and designs for projects
Analyzes maps, reports, drawings, as-builts and test results for design projects
Assists with post design construction support services to respond to contractor RFI’s, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations
Performs construction inspection on project-specific basis
Coordinates work with other disciplines and offices on multi-discipline projects
Assists with utility coordination including conflict analysis and coordination with public and private utility companies
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Engineer Intern Certification
0-2 years of professional engineering experience
Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Good communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Familiar with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Preferred Qualifications:
Drafting and design experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads for the design of alignments and 3D design surfaces
Transportation project experience
Construction experience
1+ years of experience designing transportation projects

Potential salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 depending on experience and location
