DEA’s Inland Northwest Smart Mobility team is seeking a motivated Traffic Engineer-in-Training to join our growing team. In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of traffic engineering and transportation planning projects, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research, analyze data, and develop recommendations for traffic engineering and transportation planning initiatives.
- Perform traffic projections and transportation planning using advanced computer modeling and analysis techniques.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of written and oral reports for a variety of projects, ranging from traffic studies to multi-discipline transportation initiatives.
- Contribute to business development and proposal efforts for public works and private development transportation projects.
- Participate in the design of traffic engineering projects, including traffic signals, lighting, signing and striping, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), multimodal transportation, and construction traffic control plans and specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0–4 years of experience in traffic engineering design and analysis.
- Familiarity with traffic analysis software, such as Synchro/SimTraffic.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and local agencies.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Familiarity with traffic modeling tools such as Vissim, TransModeler, SIDRA, Synchro, and/or Rodel.
