Job Title : Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor - Crisis Stabilization Unit

Location : Naples, Florida

Salary : Starting at $58k / annually (based on experience)

Position Overview :

The Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor for the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU & CCSU) provides leadership, guidance, and support to the Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) working in a high-acuity environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to individuals in crisis. The Supervisor will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff, to promote a safe and therapeutic environment while maintaining regulatory and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Supervision & Staff Management :
  • Provide direct supervision and mentorship to BHTs, ensuring the proper application of crisis management techniques, behavioral interventions, and patient care protocols.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development opportunities for BHT staff.
  • Schedule and monitor staffing levels, ensuring adequate coverage for the CSU &CCSU.
  • Provide training to new BHTs, ensuring they understand crisis intervention techniques, unit policies, and procedures.
  • Address staff concerns, including performance issues, and collaborate with HR or management for corrective actions when needed.
  • Crisis Stabilization & Patient Care :
  • Oversee the care of individuals in crisis, ensuring that patients receive appropriate support in a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff (therapists, psychiatrists, etc.) to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  • Monitor patient behavior, document interactions, and report significant changes in patient condition or behavior to the clinical team.
  • Facilitate and lead crisis intervention sessions, ensuring a non-violent, non-coercive approach to de-escalation.
  • Administrative & Operational Support :
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations governing CSU &CCSU operations, including safety, documentation, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate records related to patient care, staff schedules, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient care, staff issues, and operational concerns.
  • Assist with coordinating the daily operations of the CSU & CCSU, ensuring the unit is equipped with necessary resources and that all staff are trained on operational protocols.
  • Assist in coordinating transportation for clients upon discharge to other facilities.
  • Collaboration & Communication :
  • Foster positive relationships with external agencies, referral sources, and community organizations to ensure continuity of care for patients post-discharge.
  • Provide timely communication with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure a comprehensive treatment approach for patients.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication between BHT staff and management, addressing concerns and suggesting improvements.
  • Safety & Risk Management :
  • Ensure the CSU & CCSU operates in compliance with health and safety guidelines, minimizing risk and promoting patient and staff safety.
  • Implement and supervise safety protocols, including responding to emergency situations and ensuring staff are properly trained in safety and de-escalation techniques.
  • Conduct regular safety checks of the unit and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Qualifications :
  • Education :
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), CPR, and First Aid preferred.
  • Experience :
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a behavioral health setting, preferably in a crisis stabilization unit or similar high-acuity environment.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Skills & Competencies :
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, mental health disorders, and behavioral health practices.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Working Conditions :

  • Full-time position, typically requiring evening, weekend, and holiday availability depending on unit needs.
  • Exposure to stressful situations due to the nature of working in a crisis unit.
