Job Summary
Founded as an orphanage in 1910. David & Margaret Youth and Family Services has a proud tradition of serving children and families in need that stretches over a century. David & Margaret Youth and Family Services empowers children, youth, and families through culturally diverse services that foster emotional, educational, spiritual, and identity development.
We are currently seeking energetic, enthusiastic and motivated bilingual monolingual youth counselors for our short stay campus and group home residential program. This is not an STRTP:
The Counselors are very important members of the team of employees concerned with the youth we serve. They must come to the position with a great amount of dedication, acceptance, and understanding.
Counselors are expected to work closely with the program therapists and are under the direction of the Counselor Supervisors and Senior Counselors. Support of agency rules and policy is essential. No employee in the facility has a greater responsibility to set a proper example for the youth we serve than the Counselor. They must always conduct themselves with dignity and self respect and follow our values of care.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Have at least one year of fulltime experience working with children/youth between 6 to 17 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish, Arabic, French, and or Haitian Creole)
- You must have a valid California driver's license and a good driving record.
- Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional environment and within the community, using standard office equipment. This position will routinely assist in transporting youth to appointments, clothing shopping, and/or recreational activities within the community. There is travel to nearby homes within the community where the youth live and staff work.

Salary : $19 - $23
