Job Description
David Weekley Homes’ Build-to-Rent (BTR) Division, Integrity Community Builders, has an exciting new opportunity for a Director position.
The Director will work closely with the Build to Rent (BTR) Vice President to establish and grow DWH’s residential attached and detached Build-to-Rent homes and communities.
They’ll do so by forming mutually beneficial business connections with developers and investors to identify and evaluate land investment opportunities that contribute to the success of DWH’s BTR strategy. They’ll collaborate with internal team members through underwriting, acquisitions and entitlements until the project is ready to hand off to the Division Land Teams.
What You’ll Do:
- Search for developed lots and raw land opportunities suitable for development of residential attached and detached build-to-rent (BTR) communities based on Weekley Business Practices
- Visit and analyze each new BTR land opportunity to determine its fit within DWH’s BTR business plans
- Identify, develop, nurture and leverage community owner, developer and investor relationships
- With the BTR Analyst, prepare financial proformas to evaluate potential investments, project underwriting packages for Executive review, and RFP’s for BTR owners and investors
- Work with local DWH Division Land teams on BTR land acquisition and development
- Manage the execution of contract agreements with partners for new business acquisitions
- Oversee handoffs of shovel-ready BTR projects to the local Division
- Visit BTR projects underway as needed
- Track and manage multiple contracts and projects simultaneously
- Train, grow and develop the Analyst
Qualifications
- Relevant work experience in Build to Rent/Multifamily development, Finance/Banking and/or Real Estate Acquisition
- Proven ability to network and build new business relationships while maintaining and growing existing relationships
- Proven ability to source and procure new business opportunities
- Self-motivation and time management to consistently follow up and follow through on opportunities and projects
- Proven negotiation and persuasion skills
- Ability to analyze and problem solve complex issues
- Comfort with developing and maintaining financial proformas and spreadsheets in Excel
- Preferably a working knowledge of DWH’s real estate markets
- Commitment to integrity, growth and making a positive impact on others
- Bachelor’s degree
Additional Information
- Must be based in Houston or Austin, Texas.
- Will be responsible for business development and acquisitions in a regional area comprised of several major markets. Will travel throughout the region to meet with project owners, attend conferences as a brand representative, network, and engage in business development.
- Will travel quarterly and as needed to Houston headquarters for leadership meetings and presentations.
- Travel will primarily occur Monday-Friday.
