Job Description
David Weekley Homes is seeking a Director of Mortgage to join our corporate team to implement and oversee the company’s mortgage strategy to delight our homebuyers by delivering an outstanding experience and competitive loan products. This position will join the Accounting and Finance team at our Houston headquarters and report to the CFO.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute a strategy that achieves the company’s mortgage goals
- Focus on creating a positive and seamless experience for homebuyers
- Maintain effective relationships with mortgage partners including capital markets and operational leaders
- Monitor joint venture financial performance and key financial metrics
- Hold partners accountable to established key performance indicators, turnaround times and deadlines
- Solicit internal feedback of mortgage company performance from Sales Consultants and Division Presidents
- Engage on customer service issues to help resolve where necessary
- Ensure efficient and effective processes and communication between Weekley and mortgage company teams
- Negotiate and ensure our partners are offering the best possible pricing and products to our homebuyers
- Monitor competitor mortgage incentives to ensure ours remain optimal in all markets, while collaborating with our Marketing team to ensure these incentives are effectively and clearly communicated to potential customers Establish and execute a plan to centralize control of mortgage forwards and rate buy downs while working closely with Division Presidents to support their goals
- Lead assigned team members, providing guidance and development opportunities
- Stay abreast of current developments, changing regulations, technological advances and events in the mortgage industry
- Ensure the company’s mortgage strategies align with current market and regulatory requirements
- Foster a results-driven culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or other related course of study is required.
- A Masters degree of MBA is highly preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in the mortgage industry, ideally with a focus on new homes.
- In-depth knowledge of the mortgage industry, including capital markets, regulatory requirements, technological and market trends, and competitive landscape.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and tactfully push back if needed.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. Experience in managing customer relationships and addressing customer concerns.
- Demonstrate high integrity and moral standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify trends or issues and develop effective solutions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to both motivate and hold others accountable.
- Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans. Experience in setting and achieving strategic goals.
- Clear understanding of financial management, including budgeting and financial analysis.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and resilient, positive attitude
- Self-motivated and proactive
Additional Information
Work Location: This position is based at our headquarters in Houston, TX near I-10 Katy Freeway & 610 W Loop N Fwy.
Travel: Requires a moderate amount of travel to our markets
