Title : Geographic Information Systems and Bus Stop Administrator
Purpose : Under the direct supervision of the Enterprise Systems Manager, performs technical work in the development and maintenance of GIS systems and interactive applications within the Agency. Responsibilities include data management, project management, analyzing user requirements and the creation, integration and maintenance of web-based interactive GIS applications, and maintaining authoritative data for internal and external users. Act as the subject matter expert and lead the implementation of automated workflows for the agency’s spatial and non-spatial data, including enterprise level integrations or other automation platforms as necessary.
Reports to : Enterprise Systems Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Oversees the maintenance, security and integrity of enterprise GIS databases and execute related changes to associated schema.
- Act as the Deputy Project Manager for the agency’s transition to Enterprise GIS.
- Maintains relationships and collaborates with support service roles including the agency’s Information Technology department and external vendors in the development of GIS system architecture.
- Understanding of best principles and practices of GIS server administration and maintenance, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct user needs assessments and recommend implementation of GIS solutions and standards.
- With the support of the Enterprise Systems Manager, acts as the lead in the configuration and maintenance of GIS applications and workflows.
- Acts as the main point of contact for external and internal data users, troubleshooting issues, editing data, and making corrections in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of agency data.
- Develop and maintain skills as necessary to keep current with GIS technology and professional best practices, including participation in the annual ESRI User Conference.
- Develop and utilize project management tools and techniques to facilitate the completion of assigned GIS projects.
- Participates on software selection and implementation, including software evaluation, requirements gathering, work flow analysis and system implementation, testing and training.
- Coordinates training efforts related to new workflows and recommendations for training for other GIS users in the agency.
- Coordinate GIS-related activities with other departments.
- Act as liaison with external agencies, including Nashville Metro ITS – GIS Division.
- Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors and managers.
- Performs other related work as required.

Knowledge and Skills Required
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree plus five (5) years of responsible experience in geospatial analysis, GIS mapping and developing and executing ArcGIS applications using the ESRI software products, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Familiarity with the following tools :
