Job Overview
Davies Claims North America is looking for an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor to join our growing team! Reporting to the Workers’ Compensation Manager, you will ensure a quality work product through the supervision of Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers, and Team Assistants.
To be successful in this role, you need to possess excellent working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation laws, rules, procedures, case law, liability principles, and medical terminology. You must have at least 5 years of Workers’ Compensation experience, experience settling claims, and be able to use Microsoft Office Suite and various other software programs. Additionally, you will need to be proactive and exhibit superior time management skills with the capability of working with and meeting deadlines as well as be willing to attend claims meetings at client locations, participate in client visits, attend seminars to maintain CEU credits and attend hearings, mediations, and depositions, as needed.
This role is a full-time, hybrid position based out of Lakewood Ranch, FL and may require travel at times. You must reside locally to this area to be considered for the position.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Complete initial review of First Report of Injury for coverage or compensability issues, red flags, and recovery potential; confirm assignment to an adjuster and nurse case manager with initial instructions
- Provide additional training via personal instruction or assignment of employee to mentor for further development
- Develop a plan of action to improve employee performance
- Ensure appropriate handling of claims through routine diary review and daily interaction with Adjusters and Nurse Case Managers, including but not limited to compensability issues, recovery (Excess and Subrogation), appropriate medical treatment, Return to Work, timeliness and proper completion in filing State forms via EDI, timeliness in responding to legal documents, demonstrating timeliness in reporting to excess and requesting reimbursement, setting of appropriate reserves, maintaining claim closure ratio of 97%, and ensuring timely and accurate payments of medical and indemnity benefits
- Attend supervisor meetings and lead monthly team meetings
- Educate Adjuster and/or Nurse Case Manager in case law updates with regular continuing education sessions
- Provide supervision of and instruction to Team Assistant(s)
- Inform the Claims Manager of personnel issues including chronic absenteeism, poor work performance, staffing problems, and client concerns and recommend appropriate remedial action and measures
- Assist with research of No Record Mail
- Ensure vacations and extended absences are covered by other qualified team members
- Handle employee complaints and grievances
- Update client profiles as changes are implemented
- Ensure proper communication of claims issues with clients through monthly telephone contact and quarterly claims meetings

Experience and Qualifications
- 5 years of experience handling Workers’ Compensation claims
- Possess FL-All Lines Adjuster or Workers’ Compensation License and maintain CEU credits
- Previous experience settling Workers’ Compensation claims
- Prior experience in a supervisory role or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- College degree
- Professional designations such as AIC, ARM, CPCU, AIM, CWCL, etc.
- Proactive, independent, dependable, and takes initiative with consistent follow through
- Superb written and verbal communication skills conducted in a timely manner with diverse audiences
- Superior time management skills with capability of working with and meeting deadlines
- Exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
