What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Band Director - 2025-2026 position at Daviess County School District?
Job Goal:
To support HS/MS instrumental music directors in the full operation and development of band and orchestra programs and to provide quality instruction leading to ensemble excellence and the individual musical development of students enrolled.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the high school and middle school band directors and high school orchestra directors in rehearsals, performances, and general classroom functions: Daily schedule as assigned by District Arts Coordinator, After school rehearsals, After school performances including but not limited to athletic events, competitions, sanctioned adjudicated festivals, community events, concerts (orchestra as available) and parades, and Requires nights and weekends as scheduled
- Assist band and orchestra directors in preparation for All-District, All-State auditions, solo and ensemble performances
- Assist the band directors and orchestra directors in the selection and requisition of books, musical instruments, and instructional aids
- Assist the band director and orchestra directors in maintaining the required inventory records
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities related to music
- Assist band directors and orchestra directors with all other duties deemed necessary for the development and continued success of the bands and orchestras
Terms of Employment:
- 186 Days
- Salary based on Rank and Experience
- All employees must complete: TB, Physical, Drug Screening, Federal and State Background Checks
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation. The district arts coordinator will conduct annual evaluations in consultation with the HS Principal.
