Job Requirements:
- Hold a valid KY Teaching Certificate with experience in athletic programs
- Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program
- Knowledge of state and KHSAA policies governing athletics
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Job Responsibilities:
- Organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic
- Assist in the selection, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches
- Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program
- Assume responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events
- Secure all necessary personnel to conduct scheduled athletic events
- Arrange transportation for athletic contest participants
- Arrange provision for meals for athletes and coaches when necessary
- Develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities
- Verify the physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participants in each sport, verify each athlete’s eligibility, and turn in to KHSAA participation list used each year
- Prepare and administer the athletic program budget
- Requisitions in cooperation with appropriate staff members, supplies, uniforms and equipment for athletic programs
- Supervise the cleaning, storage, and care of all athletic equipment
- Supervise all ticket sales and fund-raising events connected with the athletic program, and assume responsibility for proper handling and accounting of moneys involved
- Arrange all details of visiting teams’ needs including lodging, meals. Towels, gymnasium services and field assistance as appropriate
- Make all necessary arrangements for the use of non-school playing fields and facilities
- Arrange the practice schedules for the coaches on the fields and in the gymnasiums and provide the principal with the schedule
- Provide for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season
- Administer the insurance program covering school athletes, in conjunction with the appropriate school official
- Keep records of the results of all junior and senior high school athletic contests, and maintain a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of the award, including athletic scholarships
- Plan and supervise all approved recognition programs for school athletes
- Responsible for all information to be released to news media
