The Secondary Principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator for grades 7-12, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment for all students. This role encompasses managing day-to-day operations, fostering a strong school culture, overseeing curriculum and instruction, supporting faculty and staff, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve the school's mission and goals.
Job Responsibilities :
- Leadership and Vision : Develop and implement a shared vision for academic excellence and student success.
Promote a culture of collaboration, respect, and high expectations for students, staff, and the school community. Align school operations and instructional programs with the mission and values of the charter organization.
Academic and Instructional Leadership : Oversee curriculum development and implementation to ensure alignment with state standards and charter goals. Analyze student performance data to identify areas of improvement and guide instructional decisions.Facilitate professional development for teachers to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
Lead initiatives for personalized learning, college readiness, and career preparation for grades 7-12 students.School Culture and Climate : Foster a safe, supportive, and equitable school environment where all students feel valued and respected.Promote positive student behavior, addressing disciplinary matters consistently and fairly. Cultivate strong relationships with students, parents, and the broader school community.
Staff Supervision and Support : Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality faculty and staff for grades 7-12. Conduct evaluations and provide actionable feedback to ensure continuous professional growth. Support teacher collaboration through professional learning communities (PLCs) and other structures.Operational Management : Manage day-to-day school operations, including scheduling, student enrollment, and staff assignments. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as charter policies and guidelines. Oversee budgets, resources, and facilities for effective school functioning.Community and Stakeholder Engagement : Act as a liaison between the school and its stakeholders, including parents, community organizations, and the Board of Directors. Communicate regularly and transparently with all stakeholders about school progress, goals, and challenges. Build partnerships that support the school’s mission and expand opportunities for students.Job Qualifications | Education and Experience :
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.Valid state principal certification or eligibility (as applicable).Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., assistant principal, instructional coach).Experience in a charter school or secondary school setting preferred.Skills and Competencies :
Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead diverse teams to achieve ambitious goals.Deep knowledge of secondary curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Expertise in data-driven decision-making and fostering continuous improvement.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the success of every student.
