Position Overview :
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior High Science Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching science concepts in a way that inspires curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. This teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessons in life, physical, and earth sciences while meeting the needs of diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities :
Instruction & Curriculum Development :
Teach middle school science courses (grades 6-8), focusing on life science, earth science, and physical science concepts.
Develop and implement hands-on, inquiry-based lesson plans aligned with state and district standards.
Integrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) principles and real-world applications into the curriculum.
Differentiate instruction to address varying student needs, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student understanding and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
Classroom Management & Student Engagement :
Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning.
Foster a culture of scientific inquiry through experiments, lab activities, and collaborative projects.
Encourage student participation in discussions and problem-solving activities that connect science to everyday life.
Collaboration & Professional Development :
Collaborate with colleagues, including other science teachers and special education staff, to align curriculum and share best practices.
Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and participate in school-wide initiatives.
Communicate regularly with parents / guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and science-related events.
Additional Duties :
Support and help organize extracurricular STEM activities, clubs, or science fairs.
Supervise school events or student activities as assigned by the administration.
Perform other duties as needed to support the school’s mission.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid teaching license / certification for middle school science.
Strong knowledge of STEM principles, inquiry-based instruction, and differentiation strategies.
Experience teaching at the middle school level is preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Training or experience with laboratory safety procedures and equipment.
Familiarity with instructional technology (e.g., Google Classroom, science simulation tools, or learning management systems).
Background in teaching diverse student populations, including ELLs and students with disabilities.
