Overview :
Davis and Plomin Assistant Project Managers help oversee plumbing, sheet metal and HVAC aspects of projects to ensure all jobs are completed safely, on-time and under-budget.
Responsibilities :
- Assists project managers with overall execution of the project(s). Assists with requirements necessary to meet contracted timelines and confirmation that materials and equipment meet project specifications.
- Assists with billing, change orders, collections, etc. where necessary. Keeps the Project Manager up-to-date on all project issues.
- Ensure proper permits are obtained for each project per that project’s scope and requirements.
- Work with utility companies and other outside entities to make sure project needs are met in a timely manner.
- Assist Project Managers with procurement and submission of submittals. Track submittal progress and alert Project Manager of any overdue submittals.
- Ensure all project documents (drawings, submittals, etc.) are posted and updated on Procore (internal use) and other sites (external use) as required.
- Coordinate the interrelating activities of subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and customers as necessary.
- Takes part in reviewing job cost, job status, manpower and change order reports to provide analysis on the profitability and progress of projects on a monthly basis.
- Reviews job progress schedule to ensure that actual construction parallels with our progress on site. Areas of concern to be communicated to the Project Manager.
- Assist Project Managers in communications with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and owners as necessary. Attend meetings as requested or required to help maintain proper flow of information on projects.
- Assists with the management and coordination of proper manpower and equipment for each job.
- Participate in negotiating contracts with subcontractors and vendors for various trades, ensuring that all phases of the work are encompassed and that a clear definition of work responsibility is defined.
- Assist with the buyout process, job-closeouts and project change orders for all projects.
- Conduct weekly job-site visits to provide updates on progress and take progress photos as required.
- Set up equipment tracking for projects to ensure lead times meet project requirements and to track expected deliveries.
- Communicate with subcontractors where required or requested to confirm the project requirements are being satisfied.
- Reviews shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with specifications and scope of work.
- Develop relationships with customers both internally and externally to promote Davis and Plomin in a professional manner.
Requirements / Experience :
The successful candidate must have a minimum of four years commercial plumbing / mechanical experience. Candidates must be computer literate and able to successfully use MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PDF editors. Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Journeyman Plumber license or HVAC license is preferred. Alternative would be a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent. Degrees with some project management emphasis preferred.
