Description
The Youth MCOT Case Manager works collaboratively within a team to provide crisis response services to individuals in Davis County experiencing behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Additionally, under the direction of a licensed mental health therapist, this individual provides short-term intensive stabilization services to youth and their families with the goal of preventing further escalation into the crisis system. This position is community based and requires the individual to provide services in homes, schools, and other community settings.
Essential Job Functions
The Youth MCOT Case Manager/Peer Support Specialist is responsible for performing the following job functions:
- Respond to crisis calls and participate in mobile deployments in the community with a clinician as needed.
- Provide immediate intervention to assist the individual to de-escalate behaviors and emotional symptoms impacting their ability to function safely in the community.
- Connect individuals to ongoing services and supports to help them in maintaining in the community.
- Work collaboratively with the team to provide stabilization services to families, which may include conducting needs assessments, providing skills coaching and/or respite, coordination with schools and other child serving agencies, peer support, and linking to appropriate community resources and longer-term services.
- Provide routine follow up with individuals and, as appropriate, their families after crisis situations in order to promote continued stability.
- Complete clinical documentation of all services within agency guidelines.
- All other duties as assigned and needed.
Classification & Schedule
The Youth MCOT Case Manager/Peer Support Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt position with a 40-hour per week schedule.
The proposed schedule for this position is:
- Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is outlined below:
- $25.50 per hour for candidates licensed as a Social Service Worker (SSW) in the State of Utah.
- 1% per year for each year of licensure between 0 and 10 years.
- 1% per year for every three years of licensure 10 years and beyond.
- $21.50 per hour for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a social science field, but no SSW license.
- 1% per year for each year of licensure between 0 and 10 years.
- $19.00 per hour for candidates with a bachelor's degree.
- 1% per year for each year of licensure between 0 and 10 years.
Qualifications
Education/Licensure/Certification
Strong preference give to candidates with a bachelor's degree in social work or related field and/or current licensure in the state of Utah as an SSW. Must have relevant experience in the behavioral health field. Crisis worker certification preferred; required after hire.
Certification, or certification eligibility, as a peer support and/or family peer support specialist highly preferred (https://sumh.utah.gov/education/certification/peer-support).
Experience Required
Experience in crisis intervention, specifically with youth and families, and in providing clinical care to youth and their families. To qualify for peer certification, individuals must have their own lived experience with mental health and/or lived experience as a parent/caregiver of an individual who has experienced mental or behavioral health challenges.
The successful candidate must also have a clean driving record to operate agency vehicles and/or transport clients, when necessary. The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients that have sever mental illness, are hard working, can work both independently and successfully within a small outreach team.

Skills/Abilities
- Must have skills in working with SED/SPMI populations, substance use, and with individuals and families undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress.
- Demonstrates the skills necessary to motivate and engage individuals, including youth and their families.
- Knowledge of the techniques and principles of child and family development and family systems theory.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, including screening, assessing, and treating from a trauma-informed lens.
- Good organizational and practice management skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and community/state agencies.
- Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work, including evenings and weekends.
Preference will also be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Spanish.

DBH Criminal Background Check & Drug Screening Disclaimer
Davis Behavioral Health is a drug-free workplace and requires all employees to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.
