Job Summary Description
Davis Behavioral Health is seeking full-time Certified Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary to work on the medical team, assisting psychiatrists and nurse practitioners on the adult and youth teams. Under the direction of the Medical Director, Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants assist prescribers and clients in the Adult Medical and/or Youth Medical programs by performing administrative tasks to support patient care and keep the medical programs running efficiently.
Program Description
At DBH, providers work hard to ensure that our clients have the right treatment plan to help them on their journey toward better mental health. For some clients, that treatment may include the use of prescription medications to help manage the symptoms associated with mental health conditions. The DBH medical team coordinates and provides the medication management services help those clients that require medication as part of their treatment plan.
Essential Job Functions
The Medical Assistant will be responsible to perform the following essential job duties:
- Take vital signs.
- Complete medication refill requests.
- Complete prior authorization process.
- Perform urinalysis.
- Perform injections (certified medical assistants only).
- Obtain medical records and lab results.
- Receive and return phone calls.
- Write letters.
- Enter required documentation in the electronic medical record system with the established timeframes.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications
Educations/Licensure/Certification
Required
- High school diploma, or equivalent

Must complete and maintain Targeted Case Management (TCM) certification.
- Must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Must complete and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must be completed within 30 days of hire.
Preferred
- Medical Assistant Certifications
Experience
No previous experience is required to apply for this positions.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience working as a medical assistant.
- Previous experience working with individuals with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders

Classification
This position is classified as full-time, non-exempt and the successful candidate will work 40 hours per week.
Compensation
The starting wages for medical assistants at DBH is $21.00 per hour. Credit for previous demonstrated professional experience may be considered.
Schedule
The successful candidate will work the following schedule:
- Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location
This position will be housed at the DBH Main Street Clinic located at 934 South Main, Layton, Utah 84041.
Experience
Preference is to hire a Certified Medical Assistant in good standing. Candidates who are pursuing medical assistant certification, have experience as either a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) or other experience directly related to the functions of this position may also be considered.
DBH utilizes an electronic health record system, so computer literacy is a must for employment at our agency.
Previous experience working in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
In addition, the successful candidate must possess the following skills and abilities:
Be able to assess patient status and evaluate for improvement or worsening in condition.
Assess accurately for withdrawals of controlled substances.
Work as part of an multidisciplinary team.
Be organized.
Chart accurately and in a timely manner.
