Animal Care of Davis County is currently hiring for a full-time Animal Control Officer in Fruit Heights, Utah. Applications will be accepted through April 15, 2025. Follow us on Social Media.
Animal Control Officers work to ensure a safe and harmonious environment for both human and animal residents of the community. This position responds to dispatch calls to provide animal rescue, municipal and public assistance with animal-related situations and enforcement of state and local statutes.
This position requires working 10 hour shifts, including weekends, holidays and being on-call on a rotation basis for one week at a time, responding to emergency calls within 15 minutes, 24 hours/day.
Pay Range and Benefits:
Level I (refer to requirements below): $19.68 - $25.02/hr
Level II (refer to requirements below): $21.97 - $27.96/hr
Salary based on qualifications and experience.

Requirements
Level I: High school graduation or equivalent.
Level II: High school graduation or equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in a veterinarian hospital or animal shelter.
A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
Preference for work experience within the previous 3 years performing first-contact, front facing customer service.
Preference for customer service work experience using bilingual skills in English and Spanish.

Day to Day Duties
- Patrols geographic areas of Davis County to ensure the protection of citizens and animals.
- Safely and humanely captures and transports animals, including those who are sick, injured or potentially dangerous.
- Responds to traffic accidents involving animals.
- Provides answers to citizens' questions, provides assistance and education regarding responsible animal ownership/ordinance requirements and assists in complaint mediation.
- Investigates animal bite cases, animal attacks, fights and arranges for proper care, quarantine and/or observation of the animal.
- Writes reports and records data on appropriate log/forms.
- Works with and around all types of animals and animal matter.
