Davis & Floyd is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our Site Design Team in our Charleston, SC Office. Our firm has been providing quality engineering services to our clients since 1954. This candidate will become part of a team that provides project consulting, site planning, design, permitting, and engineering services to a wide variety of clients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Perform all aspects of site design and permitting including processing surveys; preparation of grading, drainage, water distribution, sewer collection, and erosion control design documents; permit applications, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, and other technical reports necessary for permitting of construction projects
- Serve as the Engineer of Record for site development projects
- Apply sound engineering principles to the solution of routine technical problems
- Provide technical direction to Staff Engineers, Interns, and Co-Ops
- Complete assigned tasks according to established project scope, budget, and schedule
- Coordinate and manage daily activities and schedules for multiple assigned projects
- Communicate with technical staff and regulatory agencies by phone, in writing and in person to ensure project goals are accomplished
- QA/QC design documents to ensure technical correctness and conformance with project requirements and to maintain Davis & Floyd's quality standards
- Review data collected through field studies and surveys
- Prepare and review design computations
- Prepare opinions of probable construction costs
- Assist in preparation of presentation material for client meetings and public review sessions
- Conduct construction site visits to monitor progress and other contracted construction services
- Assist Project Managers and Senior Civil Engineers by executing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) is required
- Minimum of 5 years design experience in site development and permitting
- Proficiency using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Experience using other design software including Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis SEDCAD, ArcGIS, and AutoTurn
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
