Job description
We are currently seeking a full-time Accounting/Payroll Specialist for immediate employment. The ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. The potential candidate must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process invoices and accounts payable
- Audit media, billboard, radio, and digital invoices
- Record high volume entries into accounting system.
- Receive and reconcile high-volume accounts.
- Audit and process payments.
- Scan, organize and file receivables.
- Communicate with Vendors.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, receipts, and invoices.
- Assist accounting team with other accounting related duties as needed.
- Handle all aspects related to processing bi-monthly payroll.
- Audit payroll reports and large volumes of invoices to verify accuracy.
- Research and resolve discrepancies.
- Calculate complex payroll calculations accurately including retroactive pay, salary adjustments, and terminations.
- Reconcile monthly benefit carrier invoices to ensure the accuracy of benefit deductions.
- Ensure that all payments, deductions, remittances, and dues are accurate, submitted on time, and are in accordance with the firm’s expectations.
- Process payout requests, adjustments, deductions, and garnishments as necessary
- Process all new hires, and terminations, and produce records of employment.
- Assist with the preparation of payroll year-end tasks.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Maintain confidential information by adhering to ethical standards.
- Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of accounting principles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using QuickBooks is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Deadline-driven with excellent time management ability.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
Education & Experience:
- 1-3 years of general accounting experience.
- 1-3 years of experience working with payroll accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Associate degree in accounting or business preferred.
- 1-3 years prior experience in payroll processing preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary work with prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk working on a computer.
