Job Title: Leasing Consultant

Reports to: Property Manager

Summary: Show and lease apartment homes to prospective residents. Qualify residents for occupancy.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities and works with limited supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: May include the following; however, other duties may be assigned.

  • Interviews prospective residents and records information to ascertain needs and qualifications.
  • Accompanies prospects to model apartments (if one is available) and discusses size and layout of rooms, available facilities, such as swimming pools, location of shopping centers, services available, and terms of lease.
  • Prepare maintenance service requests.
  • Assist in preparing newsletter and renewal leases.
  • Photocopy daily paperwork and file documents.
  • Prepare and complete move-in-files.
  • Answer any questions or concerns from residents and prospective residents.
  • Prepare and qualify applicants for manager’s approval.
  • Telephone previous guests who visited the property.
  • Perform follow-up procedure with prospects in accordance with policy.
  • Inspect apartments including market readies and move-ins.
  • Follow procedures in manual according to policy.
  • Assist in developing market strategies and market property as directed.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Must be able to read, write and communicate English fluently; Spanish is a plus. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software and Word Processing software.

Required Licenses and Other Requirements: Must successfully complete Fair Housing and Human Trafficking training annually.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak fluent Spanish a plus. Mental skills such as the ability to get along with others and the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time are required.

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Other Qualifications: Mental skills such as the ability to get along with others and the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time are required. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Working Hours: Must be able to work Saturdays if necessary. Due to property staffing limitations, it is extremely critical that individuals possess the ability to work their scheduled hours on a consistent basis and overtime hours when and if required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
