The following position is available at Davis High School: HEAD CHEER COACH Davis High School is in search of an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Competitive Cheer Head Coach to lead our high school cheerleading team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing practice sessions, coordinating competition preparation, and promoting a positive, inclusive team culture. The Competitive Cheer Head Coach will work closely with the athletic department, school administration, and parents to ensure the success of the team both on and off the mat. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coach the competitive cheer team, ensuring the development of skills in stunting, tumbling, choreography, and performance. Select, train, and retain assistant coaches and employee clinicians as needed. Plan and conduct practices that are engaging, safe, and effective for team development. Prepare athletes for local, regional, and state-level competitions, ensuring they are physically and mentally prepared. Maintain team discipline and foster a positive team environment that emphasizes hard work, accountability, and respect. Provide leadership and mentorship to cheerleaders, emphasizing teamwork, good sportsmanship, and personal growth. Oversee all aspects of the competition season, including managing travel logistics, coordinating competition entries, and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations. Work within District and State Purchasing guidelines to maintain a fiscally responsible program. Collaborate with the athletic director and administration on team goals, athletic department activities, and fundraising efforts. Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the community to maintain strong relationships. Maintain accurate records of team attendance, performance, and injury reports. Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes, adhering to safety standards and protocols during practices and events. Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience coaching or participation in competitive cheerleading. Knowledge of cheerleading skills, stunts, tumbling techniques, and choreography. Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to manage a team of diverse athletes and maintain a positive, inclusive environment. CPR and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain certification. Understanding of safety guidelines and risk management in cheerleading. Availability to attend practices, games, and competitions during early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with athletes, parents, and staff. Passion for cheerleading and a commitment to the growth and success of the team.
