Summary
The Academic Success Mentor is an integral part of the Davis Connect educational team, supporting students enrolled in our Davis Connect Utah's State Online Education Program (SOEP). In this role, the mentor is responsible for tracking student progress, providing necessary support, and ensuring that students stay engaged and motivated throughout their coursework to succeed in their online learning journey.

Classified position is announced to all qualified applicants. Applications must be submitted no later than 19.5 hours per week / 174 days per year / Salary Grade 3 - $15.95 per hour (Support Salary Table 2024-25) Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations: Tracking and Support: - Identify and Monitor At-Risk Students: Utilize tools like Encore for transcripts, schedules, interventions, and Canvas for course logins and grade tracking to identify students who are at risk or struggling. -Engagement and Goal Setting: Proactively contact students and their families to set achievable academic goals, provide positive reinforcement, and offer guidance on academic tasks. -Communication: Act as a vital communication link, informing students and parents about critical academic deadlines, including the Active Participation Agreement, through various channels such as email, phone calls, and texts (via Google Voice), as well as virtual meetings using Teams or Zoom. Mentorship and Guidance: -Extended Support: Serve as an extension of the educational team, listening to and guiding students and parents towards appropriate resources for support, whether academic, technological, or administrative. Administrative Support: -Registrar and Coordinator Assistance: Support the registrar and coordinator by tracking communications and responses to parents and the Utah State Borad of Education, helping maintain organized and timely interactions. -Compliance and Awareness: Maintain a thorough understanding of the laws and requirements governing the SOEP program, ensuring all activities adhere to legal and organizational standards. Professional Expectations: -Work Environment: Maintain a professional, private work area free of distractions, conducive to conducting high-quality work and virtual communications.
