What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Machinery Installation Engineer position at Davis Standard?

Our systems encompass over 11 product lines to support manufacturing applications and customers in a wide variety of industries, including automotive, building & construction, consumer products, medical, and packaging.
Davis-Standard has an immediate opening in the Fulton, New York location for a Mechanical Project Engineer.
Duties and requirements may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee the installation of Davis-Standard equipment to engineering drawing standards.
- Liaison to the customer while machine is in the installation and startup phase.
- Coordinate and manage contractors during equipment installation.
- Resolve issues and implement corrective actions with assistance from Project Managers, Engineers, and equipment suppliers.
- Instructing machine operators and maintenance people on the proper maintenance and corrective actions.
- Coordinate Mechanical Quality Assurance checkouts at the customer site.
- Familiar with optical alignment of equipment using Theodolite, Optical Levels, etc.
- Provide customer technical assistance in troubleshooting and servicing of Davis-Standard equipment.
- Update drawing per “as built” and return the lead engineers.
- Perform alignment of motor couplings, drive belts sheaves, and other mechanical drive arrangements.
- Submit service reports.
- Provide feedback to the Manuals Department on how to set-up equipment.

- The successful candidate should be a hands-on and a self-starting individual that functions well in a fast paced & dynamic environment.
- Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Windows with working knowledge of Excel and Word software.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and to foreign countries up to 80%.
- Able to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
- 2-4 years of experience servicing converting equipment a plus.
- Overtime as necessary.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be able to plan and schedule your own daily activities.
- Must have, or have the ability to possess a valid passport.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people including Field Service Technicians, Engineers, Customers, and department managers.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of the equipment, the industry, and processes is preferred
- Two-Year degree or certification in engineering technology, electronics, electro-mechanical is a plus
