The Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) is the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Command and Control (C2) system of record. It provides commanders and warfighters with a comprehensive battlespace view, enabling effective joint and multinational operations. GCCS-J supports Joint Warfighter needs through operational baselines (Global, JOPES) and three core product areas : Situational Awareness, Infrastructure, and Intelligence.
The program focuses on sustaining and synchronizing existing capabilities while enhancing and modernizing functionalities to meet emerging operational needs. It leverages agile technologies to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and deliver enhanced capabilities.
Responsibilities :
The successful candidate will :
Exhibit a positive attitude, high initiative, and a proactive approach to solving complex challenges.
Prioritize tasks to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Collaborate with geographically dispersed development teams, communicating effectively on project statuses and obstacles.
Adhere to Agile development practices across the software development lifecycle : requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
Lead independent technical investigations and provide recommendations to integrate GCCS-J functionality into new baselines.
Demonstrate attention to detail and quickly adapt to new procedures with minimal supervision.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency in Java and Object-Oriented Design / Programming.
Familiarity with build ecosystems (e.g., Maven).
Ability to develop software documentation and perform unit testing.
Understanding of software test plans, procedures, and code reviews to ensure best practices.
Experience analyzing static code results and providing remediation recommendations.
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and the full software lifecycle.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
US citizenship with a final Secret clearance .
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with multiple programming languages : C, C , C#, .NET, Python, Perl, Ansible, JavaScript.
Familiarity with popular frameworks (e.g., Spring, Vue.js) and tools (e.g., Git, JIRA, Jenkins).
Knowledge of industry-standard practices (e.g., unit testing, concurrency, abstract classes).
Experience in cross-platform environments (Windows and Unix / Linux).
Proficiency in virtual machine environments and Open Container Initiative (OCI) development.
Familiarity with DevSecOps, automated testing, performance testing, and debugging techniques.
Understanding of database design, container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes), and Application Security STIGs.
Networking and troubleshooting expertise.
Linux and Windows system administration skills.
Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
Background in military intelligence, imagery, or strategic planning is a plus.
Top Secret / SCI clearance preferred.
