Reminding people how good food can be by understanding our customer and guiding them to well-made coffee and food.

Our goal is to guide our customers. This requires we 1) have expertise to act as a guide and 2) empathy enticing them to follow.

We believe meaning and satisfaction in work is produced by the experience of someone else enjoying what you have made. This could be building a house, cutting flowers, or baking a loaf of bread. The point is, you experience connection between what your hands produce and someone’s enjoyment of that product.

We make coffee, chocolate, and bread at nationally award-winning levels. And while there is something simple about great food, nothing about this is easy. Making something great is just the start, because we must continue doing it again and again and again, all for the purpose of serving the neighborhood.

You’ll be on a team with attention and care as its foundation. We can train skill and knowledge, but we can’t train you on how to care. You have to bring that yourself.

The Barista's 5 Major Contributive Responsibilities:

While not exhaustive, this is a general idea of the responsibility of this role.

• Responsible for holding self accountable for making products to quality standards, serving customers well, & maintaining order of the café.
• Responsible for managing products & personal time wisely & effectively, with accuracy then speed.
• Responsible for fostering empathetic relationships with employees & customers.
• Responsible for consistently creating excellent products (toasts, pastries, coffee).
• Responsible for optimal operation by understanding, utilizing, and maintaining all café equipment & facilities while maintaining cleanliness & organization.

Tasks (not limited to):

· Following Davis Street Espresso processes

· Following maintenance processes & checklists

· Handwashing dishes

· Preparing needed ingredients/products

· Prepping & serving food & beverages

· Accurate & responsible money handling

· Building & maintaining relationships with customers & team

This role is entry level, hourly, $11-$12 TIPS (approx. $5-$8/hr) (tips are earned after completed onboarding/training); Monday-Saturday, availability hours: M-F 5:30am-5pm & Sat 6:30am-5pm, 25-40 hrs/wk. Full Saturday availability required.

This role requires no prior experience/education— experience/education in hospitality, business &/or coffee is a plus!
