What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Technology Adjunct Faculty - Mill Creek Youth Center Ogden position at Davis Technical College?
Please note this position is located in Ogden, Utah. This position is four days per week, Monday - Thursday, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Supports the College Mission and serves students, employers, and the College community by providing quality manufacturing job skills training in a safe, clean environment. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and the Utah Department of Health and Human Services and their education partners. Success of a faculty member includes the ability to: collaborate, simplify, communicate, advocate, celebrate success, build trust, empower others, and improve the College community and its programs.
- Instructs students, reviews prior learning, evaluates performance, and promptly enters accurate student data in the student information system.
- Delivers instruction using designated course curriculum and assessments.
- Promotes job readiness, encourages professionalism and good work habits, and assists students in seeking and finding employment.
- Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and incorporating Advisory Committee input on curriculum.
- Addresses and resolves issues affecting student success.
- Cooperatively develops and works within the assigned program budget.
- Participates in professional development opportunities
- Fosters a productive learning and training environment.
- Promotes professionalism and good work habits and leadership.
- Maintains and implements a classroom management plan consistent with College and the Utah Department of Health and Human Services policy. Including all HHS security policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Manufacturing Technology area, including cleanup and organization of the shop area and tool room.
- Maintains a safe, clean and orderly training area by: ensuring there are adequate supplies to support continuous instruction; monitoring responsible use of supplies and equipment; and requesting and maintaining equipment as appropriate.
- Orients new students to classroom facilities, technology, and program/classroom performance and behavior expectations, procedures, and safety.
- Interacts with students in an atmosphere of professional communication, while maintaining required student boundaries.
- Builds and maintains a program that is supported by students and industry.
- Actively participates as a team member and acts as Team Leader as assigned.
- Builds and maintains relationships with industry partners, developing and participating in Occupational Advisory Committee(s).
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requires a minimum of four (4) years related work experience in Machining, Composites, Automation or Welding.
Must hold related industry certifications needed to meet the instructional requirements of the program.
Must have demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Must have proven ability to lead, including the ability to act as an advocate for the College in all partnerships.
Must have open, positive communication skills with ability to foster a productive learning environment. Position requires ability to work a schedule established by the HHS.
Must meet requirements of College accrediting body and may be required to meet Utah State Office of Education (USOE) licensure requirements.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Associate degree preferred.
Experience working with at risk youth, incarcerated adults or in a corrections setting is desired.
