Elementary Vocal Music/STEM Teacher

EFFECTIVE DATE: 2025/2026 School Year

Davison Community Schools is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic educator to teach Music and STEM to students in kindergarten through 4th grade. The ideal candidate will inspire creativity and curiosity, foster a love of learning, and integrate cross-curricular skills to support student growth in both the arts and sciences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Music Instruction

• Plan and deliver engaging general music lessons for grades K–4
• Introduce students to rhythm, melody, instruments, vocal techniques, and music appreciation
• Organize and direct performances and concerts throughout the year
• Foster creativity through movement, singing, and instrument play
• Align instruction with district-approved curriculum aligned with music standards

STEM Instruction

• Develop and teach age-appropriate STEM lessons incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math
• Facilitate hands-on experiments, design challenges, and collaborative projects
• Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity in students
• Integrate digital tools and platforms to enhance student learning
• Ensure alignment with relevant standards

General Duties

• Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to students and parents
• Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support cross-curricular integration
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be qualified and certified to teach in the State of Michigan and possess the necessary educational background and certification for the position as determined by the district.
• Candidates with the following endorsements will be considered: Music (JX, JQ, OX), Elementary Education (ZG, or ZO and ZP), Technology (NP or NR) or provide evidence of educational technology knowledge and skills
• Willing and able to deliver effective classroom instruction.
• Have a strong desire to work with elementary school aged students and their parents.
• Be willing to participate in a variety of extra-curriculum and co-curricular activities including staff development and curriculum development.
• Be willing to work as part of a building team for the improvement of instruction.
• Be open to continuous change.
• Be an excellent communicator with students, parents and colleagues.
• Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the position.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

SALARY: Per DEA Master Agreement
