Job Purpose and Overview
The accounting director is responsible for managing accounting operations, developing and implementing internal controls, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position oversees the preparation and analysis of financial results and ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards. Additionally, this position will monitor and evaluate accounting systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
This will be a hybrid role with 3 days required onsite at the Jackson Michigan home office. Travel Percentage 10%
What will you do as a Director of Accounting at Dawn Foods?
- Oversee the monthly and annual financial close process for Dawn US and Canada, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
- Perform detailed analysis of financial results and balance sheet reviews, including variance analysis between actual, forecast, and budgeted results, identifying key trends and drivers.
- Assign and regularly review the work of analysts for accuracy and completeness, including journal entries, account reconciliations, reports, etc.
- Manage a team of analysts, including developing talent and shifting responsibilities amongst the team in the name of continuous improvement.
- Perform journal entries for various accruals relating to sensitive information.
- Develop and enforce accounting and internal control-related policies under US GAAP.
- Oversee external audits and work closely with the audit firm to manage the audit deliverables.
- Responsible for the corporate accounting operations in the U.S, as well as certain aspects within Canada, LATAM, and Europe
- Monitor and implement new accounting standards, providing impact analysis to leadership.
- Collaborate with global teams to streamline and standardize accounting practices.
- Provide insights and support to senior management on financial performance, risks, and strategic decisions.
- Drive automation initiatives and implement technology solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Support ERP implementations or upgrades as necessary
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including accounting, tax, treasury, and operations teams, to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve any issues.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of leadership throughout Dawn. This position must be seen by other Team Members as a knowledgeable business partner.

What Does It Take to be a Director of Accounting at Dawn Foods?
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting (preferably), or a related field. Progress toward or completion of industry-recognized designation preferred (CPA, MBA, etc.,).
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in both accounting and financial analysis is required, which includes 4 or more years of public accounting experience.
- If public accounting experience exceeds 7 or more years of service, the 10 years of experience requirement is waived.
- 3 years of prior supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accounting controls, and processes is required.
- Strong foundation in standard costing and manufacturing finance.
- Big 4 Audit firm experience is preferred.
- Experience in a multinational organization is highly preferred.
- SAP ECC, SAP S4 Hana, and Oracle FCC experience are preferred.

Compensation Range:
$118,730 - $201,850 with bonus incentive.
