One of our clients in Cannington, ON region is looking for a CNC Machinist for their facility.
Shift: Day /Afternoon/Nights
Pay - $28 $38 an hour (depending on expereince)
Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup and Operation
- Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture precision parts according to specifications.
- Perform tool changes, fixture setups, and machine adjustments as needed.
- Ensure all setups are efficient and repeatable for future operations.
Programming and Optimization
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications to create accurate machine programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
- Optimize machining processes to enhance cycle time, accuracy, and tool life.
- Perform program edits directly on the machine controller when necessary.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM) to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform first-off inspections and document results.
- Identify and address quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions when needed.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine maintenance on CNC machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with machines, tools, and programs.
- Report and document machine malfunctions or downtime.
Collaboration and Safety
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and team members to improve machining processes.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in machining or CNC programming are preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating and programming 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and CAM programming.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, and material properties (e.g., metals, plastics).
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools and instruments.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
