What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Science Teacher/FFA Advisor position at Dawson Junior / Senior High School?
Dawson ISD is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Agricultural Science Teacher/FFA Advisor to join our team. This position will be responsible for delivering a high-quality agricultural science curriculum, fostering student leadership through FFA, and supporting students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop skills in agriculture, livestock management, agribusiness, and leadership while maintaining an active FFA program.
Potential Applicants Must:
-Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agricultural Science.
-Oversee and manage the Dawson ISD FFA program, including student leadership development, competitions, and supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs).
-Provide hands-on learning opportunities through classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and project-based learning.
-Prepare students for local, state, and national FFA competitions, as well as leadership events.
-Manage the school’s agricultural facilities, including animal care, greenhouse operations, and agricultural mechanics labs.
-Assist students in securing and maintaining SAEs, including livestock, horticulture, welding, and other agricultural projects.
-Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the local agricultural community.
-Supervise students during FFA events, stock shows, conventions, and leadership conferences.
-Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in agricultural education.
-Ensure compliance with district policies and safety regulations.
