JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Outreach and Communications Coordinator develops and enhances the Child Abuse Outreach Education and Prevention Program at Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center, in order to achieve the following goals: 1) Spread awareness about the services available for child abuse victims at Dawson Place at community events and through social media platforms to help increase intake, 2) Empower child abuse victims and families to come forward and receive the help that they need and deserve to stop the abuse and live safe and healthy lives, and 3) Empower constituents to recognize, respond, and prevent child sexual abuse. Attending multiple community events (evenings and weekends both inside and outside), school resource fairs and foodbanks along with maintaining social media platforms, structuring educational content and delivery, establishing chat routines, developing and implementing communication efforts are a few of the ways this position will enhance the engagement and communication between Dawson Place and the community to advance our mission. This position is 50% Community Outreach, 25% Communications, 25% Parenting Education Program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS:
· Degree preferred but not required. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field preferred but not required. Professional experience relevant to community outreach and engagement, building and managing marketing and social media campaigns will be considered in place of a degree.
· Experience in Community Engagement and Outreach
· Experience in developing, organizing, and executing social media content and internal and external constituent communication
· Must have a valid driver’s license to drive company vehicle to community outreach events and as needed
· Fluency in Spanish a plus
· Technical skills: WordPress, Canva, Adobe, Meta Business Suite, Office Suite, Google Analytics, Google Docs, Email Marketing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned
· Assists with scheduling and attends community events with the Outreach team and reviews previous events to make informed decisions – will include attending and participating in evening and weekend events throughout the year.
· Travel required to attend events in Snohomish County, set-up Dawson Place booth, communicate and engage with attendees, share Dawson Place’s services and mission.
· Is willing to network and share about the mission and vision of the organization in a streamlined manner.
· Assists with organizing and coordinating the annual Dawson Place Street Fair, Operation Elf, and other Dawson Place events hosted by the Outreach team.
· Enhances the Community Engagement Program through periodic evaluations to improve what works well, increases the program scope when appropriate, and expands the program to engage more communities.
· Researches community groups, churches, and schools to identify and document location and contact information.
· Establishes contacts and builds and maintains relationships with local entities that will be the primary focus for the Program, including community-based groups (Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks, et al), churches, and schools.
· Understands the goals and purposes of the Outreach, Education & Prevention Program at Dawson Place.
· Connects with prior contacts and maintains relationships with them.
· Work directly with Outreach Team to develop, organize, and execute social media content. Grows audiences and engages constituent communities and staff to increase intake and awareness of Dawson Place services.
· Contributes to social media content calendars by writing captions, adding hashtags, and supporting execution of ideas upon approval of Outreach Team.
· Communicates key themes and messages that mirror Dawson Place’s mission, brand and outreach initiatives to potential service users, constituents, and staff.
· Manages all aspects of social content distribution and management for Instagram and Twitter and other platforms in accordance with Outreach Team goals and initiatives.
· Provides community management of Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms by actively engaging with supporter comments, outreach, story mentions and tagged posts.
· Updates web page as needed.
· Utilizes Canva Pro, Adobe Illustrator, and WordPress to create brochures, newsletters, social posts, and manages website.
· Works with Outreach Team to create campaigns, monthly and quarterly recaps, and audience analysis reports.
· Analyzes data, summarizes insights, and shares recommendations on how to improve.
· Views data of where clients are from to inform areas to boost advertising as well as outreach activities.
· Writes quarterly blog posts for the website, incorporating research-based background to educate the community.
· Assists in creating web pages for local fundraisers or provides materials as needed and requested for these events.
· Coordinates volunteer opportunities with local schools and organizations.
· Sends quarterly volunteer opportunity emails and responds accordingly.
· Continues building and improving our volunteer program and recruits volunteers.
· Manages multiple priorities, analyzes competing options, prioritizes effectively, and inspires staff.
· Analyzes performance data and communicates highlights, recommendations, strengths, and weaknesses.
· Develops optimal posting schedule, factoring in web traffic and constituent engagement.
· Implements and facilitates nationally recognized Parenting Education Program The Incredible Years in the community, focusing on program content and effective dissemination strategies.
· Assists the Outreach Team with organization and coordination of Parenting Program classes.
· Assists in the recruiting and screening of participants for Parenting Education classes.
· Understands the goals and purposes of the Outreach, Education & Prevention Program at Dawson Place.
· Is energetic and self-directed, possesses a strong work ethic, quickly and easily develops relationships, and has an ability to manage multiple projects under a high amount of stress with a positive attitude.
· Maintains up-to-date knowledge and familiarity regarding the Child Advocacy Center multi-disciplinary model.
· Submits written evaluations and reports as directed by Executive Director.
· Participates in regularly scheduled supervision and team meetings as appropriate.
· Remains compliant with required trainings and certifications.
· Behaves in an ethical and professional manner consistent with agency policy, state law, and licensing entities if applicable.
· Understands and practices safekeeping of client protected health information per Dawson Place’s HIPAA and other agency policies and procedures.
· Demonstrates respect for diversity and a commitment to developing multicultural competency and sensitivity.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Ability to travel throughout Snohomish County, set up Dawson Place canopy and booth supplies at both inside and outdoor events.
- Strong public speaking, networking, and communication skills with the ability to support positive communication and information sharing with a variety of audiences both internal and external.
- Knowledge of a variety of appropriate communication methods and approaches.
- Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization professionally and effectively as well as members of the community.
- Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to also work cooperatively with others as a productive team member.
